One ambition I've had for quite some time is to become proficient in video editing. About a year ago, while living in Shanghai, I realized that I wanted to share my knowledge online. I noticed that many people prefer learning through videos instead of long articles, so I thought, why not create my own?
Initially, I was completely clueless. I downloaded the editing software, but I didn't even know how to navigate the basic timeline or add transitions. I remember spending nearly five hours trying to edit a two-minute video, and honestly, the final product was quite average. The transitions looked awkward, the background music was too loud, and the subtitles had several mistakes.
Determined to improve, I committed an hour every evening to learning video editing. I watched numerous tutorials online and tried to replicate techniques from talented creators. I realized that making a good video isn't just about editing; it also involves planning content. So, I started scripting my videos, which really helped streamline the process.
After a few months, I became much faster and my videos improved significantly in quality. Now, this skill has become invaluable in my work as a UI designer. I can create engaging materials to explain complex ideas clearly. Looking back, this journey taught me that mastering a skill is more about consistent practice than innate talent, and it's given me the confidence to take on new challenges.
