I'd say finding a good place to live in Shanghai is quite challenging these days. The main reason is the skyrocketing property prices, especially in convenient locations near metro lines. For example, when I was searching for my current apartment last year, I had to compromise - I got a decent place but it's a 40-minute commute to my design studio. That said, the upside is that newer residential areas often have better facilities like gyms and shared workspaces, which wasn't common a few years ago. So while it's tough to find something affordable in prime locations, the overall living standards in the city have actually improved.
