I think planning is definitely important, but it depends on how rigidly you follow it. For me, having a rough schedule helps reduce stress and makes me feel more in control, especially with my work as a UI Designer in Shanghai. For example, when I was training for my first half marathon, I had to plan my runs carefully because I was working late most days. Without that structure, I probably wouldn't have made progress. That said, I also think too much planning can feel restrictive. Sometimes, it's good to leave room for spontaneity, like when I decide to take a different route during my evening walks just to explore the city. So, balance is key - planning gives direction, but flexibility keeps life interesting.
