What are the advantages and disadvantages of planning every detail of a holiday or vacation in advance?

Planning every detail has its benefits - you minimize stress and avoid wasting time deciding what to do each day, which is especially useful for short trips. For example, when I visited Jiuzhaigou, having our itinerary mapped out meant we could maximize our limited time seeing all the key sights without unnecessary delays. However, over-planning can make the trip feel rigid and exhausting - you lose the chance to discover unexpected places or adjust to how you're actually feeling.
