What impact has the internet had on social conventions?

I'd say the internet has made social interactions more convenient but sometimes less meaningful. The main reason is that while we can connect instantly with anyone, these digital conversations often lack depth compared to face-to-face talks. For example, in Shanghai where I work as a UI designer, I notice how colleagues will message each other all day but rarely have proper lunchtime conversations anymore. That being said, it's not all negative - the internet does help maintain connections with distant friends and family that we might otherwise lose touch with. The key is finding balance between digital convenience and real human connection.
