Are people more interested in local news than national news?

I'd say people generally care more about local news because it directly affects their daily lives. The main reason is that local issues like new parks or transport changes have an immediate impact, while national news often feels more distant. For example, when that new eco-park opened in Shanghai I mentioned earlier, everyone in my neighborhood was talking about it because we could actually go there on weekends. That being said, younger professionals like me do still follow national business news since it relates to our careers - I check economic updates every morning while commuting. But for most ordinary days, local stories just feel more relevant.
