Do more people want to buy cars these days?

Band 7.5 sample answer

I think car ownership is actually becoming less appealing in big Chinese cities like Shanghai. The main reason is that public transport has improved so much - the metro system here is efficient and covers almost everywhere, so driving often just means sitting in traffic. For example, my colleague bought a car last year but still takes the subway to work because it's faster during rush hour. That said, in smaller cities or rural areas where transport options are limited, having a car still makes more sense for daily life. The convenience factor really depends on where you live.
