Is making money the most important thing for a business?

Band 7.5 sample answer

Personally, I'd say making money is crucial for a business, but it's not the only thing that matters. The main reason is that without profit, a company can't survive or grow, especially in competitive markets like Shanghai. For example, in my work as a UI designer, I've seen startups focus so much on revenue that they neglect user experience, and it often backfires. Customers leave when the product feels rushed or poorly designed. So, while money is essential, I think balancing it with quality and long-term vision is equally important. That's why successful companies like Alibaba invest in both profitability and innovation-it's not just about immediate gains, but sustainable growth.
