For example, smart home devices can save so much time - I recently got a robot vacuum that cleans while I'm at work, which gives me an extra half hour each evening. At the same time, there's definitely some social pressure too - when colleagues talk about their new gadgets, you don't want to feel left behind. But honestly, as a UI designer, I notice people often overlook whether they'll actually use all the features before buying.
