What really makes a difference is when people see direct benefits in their daily lives. In Shanghai, for example, our community started separating food waste last year - at first people complained, but when they saw how it reduced smelly bins in summer, participation improved dramatically. The key is showing immediate results while keeping the long-term goal. That's more effective than just telling people to care about polar bears or rainforests far away.
