I'd say basic rules of politeness are quite important because they create a shared understanding in public spaces. In Shanghai, for example, when people queue properly for the metro instead of pushing, it makes the morning commute much smoother for everyone. At work as a UI designer, simple things like saying "good morning" or not interrupting colleagues during presentations maintain a positive atmosphere. Of course, some rules can feel outdated - like when older relatives insist on overly formal greetings - but overall, having common courtesy standards helps society function better. It's not about strict traditions, just making daily interactions more comfortable for everyone involved.
