Is it a good idea to take children to see animals in zoos?

Personally, I feel it's a good idea to take children to zoos, because it gives them a chance to connect with animals in a way that books or videos can't match. For example, when I was young, my parents took me to the Shanghai Zoo, and seeing the pandas up close sparked a genuine curiosity about wildlife that stayed with me for years. That said, I think it's important to choose zoos that prioritize animal welfare, because not all facilities treat animals well. So, while zoos can be educational and inspiring, they need to be responsible too.
