Why do some people think it's important to be on time while others don't?

I'd say it often comes down to different cultural expectations and work environments. In Shanghai where I work as a UI designer, punctuality is crucial because we have tight project deadlines and team coordination needs to be precise - if one person is late, it can delay the whole design process. But I've noticed some creative professionals like freelance artists might be more relaxed about time because their work flows differently. For example, when I worked with an illustrator last month, she often scheduled meetings later in the day when she felt most inspired, which initially frustrated me but actually resulted in better creative output. That being said, in service industries or formal business settings here, being late would still be considered quite unprofessional.
