I'd say money is definitely a big factor, especially early in people's careers, but it's rarely the only reason. In Shanghai, I've seen many young professionals, including some of my colleagues, take lower-paying jobs in creative fields simply because they find the work more fulfilling. Like when I switched to UI design-the pay wasn't amazing at first, but I valued the creative freedom much more than a higher salary elsewhere. That said, financial stability still matters-you can't ignore bills and rent. So while passion plays a role, money sets the baseline for most career choices.
