I'd say people who show their feelings tend to be more approachable, which makes them naturally more popular. The main reason is that when someone expresses emotions openly, it creates an instant connection - you feel like you know them better. For example, at my workplace in Shanghai, the colleagues who share their excitement about projects or admit when they're struggling always seem to have more people checking in on them. That said, there's a balance - someone who overshares or gets too emotional might actually push people away. It's about finding that middle ground where you're genuine but still considerate of others.
