How usual is it in your country to live in tall buildings?

In Shanghai where I live now, living in tall buildings is extremely common-I'd say the majority of residents do. The main reason is simply space efficiency, as the city has limited land but a huge population. My own apartment is on the 25th floor of a high-rise, and honestly, the views over the city are spectacular, especially at night when all the lights come on. That being said, older generations often prefer lower floors or traditional neighborhoods-my parents in Hangzhou still live in a walk-up apartment and say tall buildings feel impersonal. But for young professionals like me, the convenience outweighs those concerns.
