Word-of-mouth recommendations carry so much weight because people trust personal experiences more than ads. Take my uncle's restaurant in Shanghai - when customers love his signature dish, they post about it on Xiaohongshu and bring their friends. That organic buzz has been more effective than any paid promotion. That said, for new businesses, some initial advertising is still necessary to get those first customers through the door. But in the long run, nothing beats genuine customer satisfaction.
