What are the advantages of countries working together on joint projects?

Take environmental projects, for instance - in Shanghai, we've seen joint efforts with European cities to develop cleaner public transport systems. Their technical know-how combined with our manufacturing capacity has led to more efficient electric buses being deployed here. That being said, cultural differences in work styles can sometimes slow things down - I've noticed in my design work that international collaborations often need extra time for alignment.
