I'd say the biggest challenge is understanding workplace culture, which can be quite different from academic environments. New employees often struggle with unspoken rules about communication styles or decision-making processes. For example, when I started as a UI designer in Shanghai, I had to learn how to present my ideas differently - in university we focused on perfecting designs, but at work I needed to explain them clearly to non-designers too. That said, technical skills are usually easier to pick up because they're more concrete, while these soft skills take observation and time to master.
