Why is fame seen as a desirable form of success by many people?

I think fame appeals to many people because it offers a sense of validation and recognition. In today's world, especially in cities like Shanghai, there's so much competition in careers and education that standing out feels like a major achievement. For example, I've seen colleagues in my UI design field who work hard to build a personal brand-sharing their projects online or speaking at industry events-because it helps them feel acknowledged for their skills. At the same time, fame can create opportunities, like collaborations or job offers, which people see as a shortcut to success. However, it's not without its downsides, as the pressure to maintain that image can be overwhelming.
