I'd say practical experience definitely carries more weight in international companies. The main reason is that qualifications show what you know, but experience proves what you can actually do in real work situations. For example, in my UI design work in Shanghai, I've seen colleagues with impressive degrees struggle with client feedback sessions, while those with hands-on experience adapt much faster to different cultural expectations. That said, qualifications still matter as a baseline requirement - they just shouldn't be the only factor considered. The ability to navigate multicultural teams and solve problems on the spot tends to be what makes someone truly valuable in global companies.
