I'd say phone videos have made news more immediate but also less filtered. The main reason is anyone can capture events as they happen, which means we get raw footage from places journalists can't reach quickly. For example, during last year's Shanghai lockdown, many residents shared videos of empty streets and delivery struggles - those clips spread faster than official reports. That said, without professional verification, some viral videos turn out to be misleading or taken out of context. So while they add valuable eyewitness perspectives, we still need traditional media to fact-check them properly.
