Why have many people's attitudes towards animals changed in recent years?

I'd say people's attitudes have changed mainly because we're more aware of animal intelligence now through science and media. That means we no longer see them just as resources, but as creatures with feelings and personalities. For example, in Shanghai where I live, pet cafes have become really popular - people enjoy interacting with cats or dogs while having coffee, which shows this shift in thinking. At the same time, documentaries about wildlife have made us realize how complex animal societies can be. It's not just about being cute anymore - we understand they have their own ways of communicating and forming relationships, much like in that children's book I mentioned earlier.
