Can a country's climate influence the design of its buildings?

نموذج إجابة الدرجة 7.5

Absolutely, climate plays a huge role in building design. In Shanghai where I live, you can see how modern high-rises like the Shanghai Tower have double-layered glass facades to block the summer heat while still letting in natural light. The twisting shape actually helps reduce wind pressure too, which matters in a coastal city prone to typhoons. That said, traditional houses in Hangzhou where I grew up had completely different features - like sloped tile roofs to handle heavy rain and raised floors against humidity. So architects definitely adapt to local weather patterns, though nowadays technology lets them push boundaries more than before.
