Do most people use their phones too much when they are bored?

I'd say most people do reach for their phones when bored, especially in public spaces where there's nothing else to do. The main reason is that phones provide instant entertainment without requiring much effort - you can scroll through short videos or check messages with just a few taps. For example, when I'm waiting for the subway in Shanghai, I notice nearly everyone staring at their screens, myself included. That being said, I think it's becoming a habit rather than a conscious choice - we do it automatically without considering alternatives like observing our surroundings or striking up conversations.
