Should supporting the arts be a priority for governments?

I definitely think governments should prioritize supporting the arts, because creative expression shapes a society's identity and brings people together. Take Shanghai for example - the West Bund art museums and galleries have become cultural landmarks that attract both locals and tourists. As a UI designer, I see how exposure to different art forms sparks innovation in my own work. That said, funding needs balance - while public art projects create shared spaces, governments also have to weigh this against essential services like healthcare. But overall, the long-term cultural benefits make it worthwhile.
