Part 3a time when you felt very proud of something a family member did

Are people proud of different things today than in the past?

Contoh jawaban Band 7.5

That's an interesting question. I'd say people today are proud of different things compared to the past, especially in terms of achievements. In the past, pride often came from traditional milestones like getting a stable job or graduating from university. For example, my parents were proud when they completed their degrees because education was seen as a ticket to a secure future. Nowadays, though, people seem to take pride in more personal or creative accomplishments, like starting a business or mastering a skill.

Take my younger sister, for instance. She recently graduated, but what made our family especially proud wasn't just her degree - it was her passion for environmental science and her determination to make a difference. That kind of personal vision seems to matter more now.

That said, I think both types of pride have value. Traditional achievements still matter, but today's focus on individuality allows people to feel proud of their unique paths.
