In the past, pride often came from traditional milestones like getting a stable job or graduating from university. For example, my parents were proud when they completed their degrees because education was seen as a ticket to a secure future. Nowadays, though, people seem to take pride in more personal or creative accomplishments, like starting a business or mastering a skill.
Take my younger sister, for instance. She recently graduated, but what made our family especially proud wasn't just her degree - it was her passion for environmental science and her determination to make a difference. That kind of personal vision seems to matter more now.
That said, I think both types of pride have value. Traditional achievements still matter, but today's focus on individuality allows people to feel proud of their unique paths.
