Part 3a person you know who is good at learning languages

Do lots of people in your country speak more than one language?

バンド7.5 模範解答

I'd say quite a lot of people in China speak at least some English, especially in big cities like Shanghai where I live. The main reason is that English has been compulsory in schools for years, and many companies now require it for work. For example, in my office as a UI designer, we often need to read English documentation for software updates or communicate with international clients. That said, fluency varies a lot - younger professionals tend to be more confident speakers than older generations who didn't have as much exposure growing up. What's interesting is that besides English, many people are picking up other languages too, like my friend Lisa who speaks French, which shows how language learning is becoming more diverse now.
