I'd say TV shows and programs definitely shape people's expectations of society, especially because they often present idealized versions of reality. For example, in Shanghai, many young people like me watch lifestyle vlogs or dramas where characters have these perfect careers, relationships, and homes. It's entertaining, but it can make you feel like your own life isn't measuring up. I remember watching a popular Chinese drama where the main character effortlessly balanced a high-powered job and a romantic relationship, and for a while, I felt like I wasn't doing enough in my own life. That being said, I think people are becoming more aware of how these shows are edited or scripted, so they don't take everything at face value anymore. Still, the influence is there, especially for younger audiences who might not have as much real-world experience to compare it to.
